  • Initial impressions were much as before. However, this bottle didn't open up like a few bottles drunk several months or more back did...if anything it seemed to tighten up with air. This leads me to think this has probably closed down somewhat for now (extrapolating from 1 unit of data, and not controlling for other possible variable....). It was glorious in its first drinking window, it's till impressive, still enjoyable even, but I'll wait a year or three before checking in again.

  • I second the positive reviews below.. and the Gonon comparisons. On opening there's a pronounced herbaceous / stemmy ? note, but it's in no way under-ripe and with half an hour in a decanter this integrates easily and then wow what a gorgeous bottle of St. Jo! The fruit is dark & peppery, the herbal note remains but adds a delightful lift - there's also a strong slate like & ferrous dimension. Dark berries, black olives, tar, earth, violets... This is just stunning (especially for such a young wine)! 92 + + ...and great value! I have no doubt that this will age, but no idea if this will shut down - if you have some, it's def. worth checking in on in its youth

  • Simply put, this is bringing Gonon levels of satisfaction. Wonderful and alluring now, but I’d love try it in 5-8 years.

  • This wine is just on fire good right now. Best Syrah I’ve had in many months, maybe yesrs. Exquisite floral aromas atop fresh peppercorn, screaming fresh blackberries, and black plum with silk and finesse. Quite loud and finishes with an earthy charred cured black olive note. Some sweet balsamic and something like Maggi sauce (umami). Really makes you happy.
