Brilliant Syrah from St. Joseph. Bouquet convinces with darker fruits, typical peppery notes and some dark chocolate. The palate is quite full-bodied with a long finish. Definitely a producer to watch.

All out white pepper attack from this sincerely elegant, ethereal & young Saint-Joseph from François Villard. Red to dark red with dark core in appearance. Fruit-forward, distinct white peppery nose with primarily deep blackberries, cassis, with only vague hints of cured meat, dried herbs and earth. Well-balanced medium-bodied, aereal palate, fruit-driven & pure with flavours echoing nose with red fruit influences, superbly approachable already at this stage with velvety tannic structure, m+-acidity, v fresh. Wow!

N: blackberry compot, garrigue, burnt rubber P: dark fruit, cherries, pepper, lingonberry tartness, raw meat, juicy, bitter almond, a little fiery, elegant tannins and a medium finish. A really enjoyable wine that went well with lamb sausage and saffron rice with a tomato salad. And much because of the price difference I would rate this higher than the 2018 Gallet blanc - for now at least.

No formal notes, but this was a text book Saint Joseph, with deeply layered dark fruit flavours and lovely poise and balance on the palate. Excellent.

Riktigt djup i färgen och med mörka bär, lite peppar och kanske kött i smaken. Vanilj tyckte den bättre hälften. Lagom med tanniner och syra. Bra!
