Cork, 15.5% alc. Strong, dark black-red. Impenetrable at core but fading at rim.
Big old school Barossa Shiraz nose. Ripe and dusty liqueur-soaked cherries, blackberry, soy, pan juices, menthol. Spicy oak, smoky brambly fruit. A little bite from the alcohol however it’s relatively well contained due to the masses of fruit and spice surrounding it. The oak presence increases with air.
Initial assault of fruit, oak, and alcohol on the palate (and some stem influence?) but ultimately finishes a bit short and drying due to the oak. That stemmy element is there again. Lots of sediment.
Opinion: A bit like a young VP without the sweetness! That sounds worse than what it really is; which is a big, old school Barossa shiraz. The wine looks much better integrated on Day 5 and can handle additional ageing. Try again in 3 years.

At his pick!. Excellent nose - still a lot of deep' red fruits, vanilla and toasting. Very expresive. On the palate - full bodied but not too opulent' round and smooth, with very good and balanced acidity. Long Finish

Mature Shiraz/Syrah tasting (at Eli Raban's home, Rehovot): blind tasting dark opaque red-purple quality Shiraz nose with pepper notes full bodied, rich fruity flavours, spicy, well structured and complexed, mouth feeling, chewy, dominant finish and aftertaste. Excellent wine to pair with grilled meat.

Spectacular example of this era. Plenty of dried fruit & spice. Decanted the Magnum for 90 min.
