Deep ruby color. Pretty notes and flavors of black cherry, cola, and touch of vanilla. Angular tannins that are softening and reined in by the sweet fruit. This is Ampelos’ basic Pinot. While it is a solid, well made wine, it is just that. Likely consumed too early, but nevertheless very approachable. It’s part of the annual club packages, but not something I would seek out, yet something that I can enjoy while the other wines continue to age. Surprisingly showing very heavy sediment including tartrates. 14% alc. With coq au vin (Seed to Tail). 01.15.23. Recommended.
