  • Medium burgundy color with no signs of aging. Very floral on the nose, roses, and red fruit. Feminine and delicate burgundy.... Took a while to open and actually showed younger than the 04 Dujac. Spice, iron, and an almost blood note on the palate. Long and complex finish with perfect balance.... Very good grand cru.

  • Kind of blah all around. No pizazz and it wasn't corked (even slightly.) A little bacon, some true grit tannins with an underpinning of soiled blackberries, a chore to drink but we were up to the cask. The back label says "Vincent believes in neither filtering nor fining his red wines." Given that this is a 10 year old wine and it threw 0 sediment I suppose the kindly interpretation is that "Vincent" makes an exception for the Latricieres. (Don't you just love the familiarity on the back label; perhaps marketing should cozy up even closer to the rubes and just call him Vinny. If you're going to patronize, may as well go all-in and use a bad pun.) So, here's my other question: is Santenay in Chambertin? Last time I checked I didn't think so but maybe I missed an earthquake. The back label says "The Girardin family has been producing wines in Santenay for eleven generations." Now that's impressive; the only thing my family has produced for eleven generations is babies. But what does Santenay have to do with Chambertin? And how do beliefs translate to practices? Ya know a lot of Catholics believe but they still practice. Just askin' Danny.
