Still dark coloured with little sediment, slightly bricked. Musty barnyard nose initially which gave way to a more oaky bouquet. Still tannic, fruit not that prominent. Chalky bitter finish, long but not that pleasant, not keen to drink again.
Keep half in a bottle, drank on second day. More fruit evident now, slightly "jammy", improved from previous day. Tannins still there, sour cherry notes. Nose more floral, but still not pleasant. Bitter aftertaste. Lacks structure, not very complex despite some "evolution" after opening

Smells of alcohol, sharp dark-red fruits, tobacco, & leather. Tastes of earth/barnyard, herbs, wood, and pink peppercorns. Very moderate fruit and is spicy & tart. Medium-Full bodied. Takes 30 minutes to open.

13.5% - Clear, med to deep brick / clean, med intensity - wild berries, plum, fresh tobacco/cigar, cedar, herbaceous / dry, med+ tart acidity, med body, med integrated tannin, med intensity, med length. grinded coffee notes, but still quite austere after craking the bottle - needs decating. This opened up like a spice box, multi-layered, impressive depth.

Nose: mocha, earthy, Rand says squash. Taste: Rand says a slight metallic taste, but my mother sharply disagrees... An earthy, woody taste< she says. To me, it's simple and a little plummy. Short finish, but pairs excellently with goat cheese; a pleasant surprise. Good, but not a repeat buy at $25-30.
