  • Tarragon and banana immediately but fades into lemon curd, ripe banana and hint of pineapple. Lovely acid that seamlessly carries the weight of all the new oak and malo. Hint of minerality that gives a nod to ole Chablis. Would drink again.

  • Best of the two Proems I’ve tried. Aired it out for a couple hours. Apple and honey on the nose, delicious acidity, incredibly well balanced. Highly recommend and lives up to the price they want.

  • I’ve been a member of Phelps for 15 + years and longer through my 91 year old father’s membership . We have enjoyed their reds primarily and dabbled into their Chardonnays. However this Proem 4 Freestone Estate from Sonoma coast is a game changer! I find this wine is at its best served at 54 deg F! Light straw color with a mineral and lemon peel aroma. Rich but elegant flavors of fruits like white peaches and Granny Smith apples with touch of citrusy lemon zest. I find it Burgundian in style with just the right power of California fruit. I find the win precisely balanced and with a refreshingly resilient finish. Wonderful wine IMO!

  • Enticing aromas of the standard white flowers with a whiff of butterscotch.
Temperature is key to unlocking the plethora of flavors this fine young wine offers. I chilled the bottle a little too long and ended up letting it warm in my glass, wow! What a transformation. Slightly chilled ~52-56. Burgundian esk, but not just the minerality and mild if any use of oak but the myriad of flavors, and yet from such a youngster, impressive. I can only imagine what a few years bottle time in the cellar will contribute.
