Earthy, barnyard-y notes of stewed cherries, fig paste, apple skin, and meat juices. A bit overdone and madeirized on the palate. Not in a great place and likely on the decline.

Deep, dark, and brooding nose. Slightly reductive. Is it a Syrah? But it says Pinot on the label. Good balance and lovely finish. This is a big wine that can age for several more years.

Opened after a Novy Syrah, which was a bad choice, so this reflects day two notes from stand alone tasting. Braised plummy roast notes. A little thin, acidic and bitter. Black tea, pomegranate, tart cherry and orange. Past prime drinking window.
