Purchased at the cantina. From a single vineyard in Contrada San Michele just outside Cupramontana, 400 masl. Fermented with indigenous yeast in steel tanks and aged sur lie for 6 months.
Pale, yellow color with green reflections.
Right out of the bottle this wine shows fresh cut lemon and lime, crunchy yellow apple, almond blossom, crushed rock and grassy herbs.
Barely mid-weight with a high and piercing acidity. Great intensity to the flavors that mirrors the nose very well. More on the linear and steely side of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. I guess the altitude and poor soils helps with that. Long, lingering and lime-driven finish with a distinct saline character.
An excellent Verdicchio from this (fairly) new, small and organic producer that is just in the beginning of it's drinking window.
