Community Tasting Notes (4)

  • A much better showing than the last bottle. This one seemed 'correct' and not flawed. Any oak that is here seems to have been integrated. Decent, if not particularly remarkable fruit. I think this bottle could have used more time.

  • Purchased from Premier cru back when Unlike some the basic borgogne I acquired from that vendor, this wasn't obviously cooked, but something was amiss. A healthy dose of brett on the nose and palate. Metallic finish.

  • Cork stained half way up one side, fruit slightly stewed, like my other 05 Laurent from PC ... either part of a bad Laurent shipment or the box sent to me was tainted (note to self: check the Faiveley to find out). But the stewedness isn't as bad as the Vosne Romanee Les Rouges and quite drinkable. It has a dark ruby colour, dense and lush cherry on entry with nice clear acidity, then the rough chalky stewedness comes in and ruins the party.

  • simple and reticent upon opening, very light in color, almost like a rose...certainly not what I expected for a Nuits from this producer,....put on weight with a couple hours of air. Red fruits on the nose...oak present but not excessive..surprisingly soft and accessible, but with penetrating acidity...should age for a bit, but probably not a 15 year wine (FWIW: I'm not a burg guy)
