This is terrific. It smells and tastes wonderful, redolent with musk melon, lime gimlet, strawberries, golden delicious apples, mulling spices and emerging notes of petrol. Only lightly sweet for a spatlese, quite bright, long and mouth coating, and wide open for business tonight. Even better 24 hours later, deeper and richer, wonderful extract here. I've said it before, I'll say it again-- Merkelbach killed it in 2001.

My memory of drinking this wine last year left me with high expectations. This wine had little to know acid profile left and was soft and easy drinking. Color was still very pale and tasted slightly thin. Nice flavors of ripe peach, apricot and hint of sweet almond. Not sure how I would have paired this with food.

This continues to drink very well. Not very sweet, more like a modern Kab, with some creaminess and just a bit of strawberry, but mostly yellow fruits and minerals in a seemless and gulpable package. Very good with grilled red snapper.

pretty nice tonight with sauteed wild coho. Good acid balance, but no sharp edges and both texture and flavors easing in to a nice place of very early maturity.

I kept smelling the cork and the wine, but couldn't detect TCA. Nonetheless, it was quite muted. Drinkable but fruit and intensity nothing like a previous bottle. Will open another soon.
