  • Bought on release. Drinkable but over the hill.

  • Lots of seepage under the capsule, the cork was completely soaked. I was afraid this would be ruined. It was completely different, and actually better than the bottle I had 2 years ago.

The color was a medium-light ruby red. Aromas of raspberry, strawberry, leather, and cola. Lots of sweet fruit, underlined with some earthiness. The structure is very light at this point, tannins are very smooth and light, there's a little acidity still giving it a little edge. Overall, medium-light weight, a little on the soft side. Very delicious, developing some nice complexity. Long finish.

  • Didn't let this brethe and should have. Subtile and refined, cherry, leather, woods and mineral on the nose. Initially the pallet was simple and not much there. After 30 minutes in the glass it began to develop more structure and was quite nice. I'll decant the remaining bottles for about an hour. Finish was moderate. Classical and refined, not modern and in your face.

  • A very light ruby red. This is the lightest red wine I've ever seen. The nose gave up cherries, sandalwood, leather, and mulch. Medium-light palate was fairly bright, with a very lithe build. Very interesting and enjoyable.

  • Steak night with Scott Manlin (Sammamish, WA): A bit of a collector's item. Apparently the last Rouge vintage of this wine. The Pinot Noir was subsequently ripped up and planted to Chardonnay. This had apparently been open a while, and, allegedly, when first tasted it didn't offer much. I hit it later in the evening, and found it to be delicious, crunchy, very Burgundian, fresh, mineral. Not the most complex Pinot by any stretch but darned tasty and interesting.
