Gamay from Volnay- had me at the very premise for Thanksgiving duck. High toned cherry and red currants with rhubarb and some green herbal aromas herald the arrival of this wine in the glass. So very pretty.
Medium bodied with great mouthfeel. It feels lush and mildly fruity upfront, while immediately segueing to a well balanced acid forward melange of herbs and spices underbrush. I would hazard a guess for carbonic maceration.
Enjoyed over three days, the wine remains a beautiful, high toned, expression of Gamay with a delicate, highly perfumed, softness.
Certainly young, the wine seems generously giving at this a point. I am not sure what changes additional bottle age will bring about and I would be very curious to taste again later.
Drink now and later.
