95% CS/2.5% Merlot/2.5% CF. Rich black cherry, cassis, and blackberry fruit. Big structure on the mid-palate with notes of tobacco leaf, smoke, leather, black licorice, crushed rock, and toasty oak. Still firm tannins on the finish which is long and beautiful. Typical Howell Mountain wine as this is far from being in its prime even after 15 years. This can easily go another decade.

This 2006 True Outpost was enjoyed with a 2006 Favia Magdalena and they were both very enjoyable. This wine seems to have more of an herbal and complicated fruit structure of primarily red and black fruits with hint of some blue. This wine has integrated nicely while taking its turn over the last 12 years. Finishes soft and rounded. Not showing its age as much as the Favia. Both I scored a 95 and it's hard to really say that one outdid the other as the styles of these wines are definitely different. Hold another 10 years

A great blend of rich black and red fruit, like cassis with some smoke. A really nice bottle. Glad I have a few others sleeping as this is nowhere near its peak.

Lovely cobernet with long finish and brisk tannic structure. Still has many years ahead of it.
