On opening, I thought "oh oh, this is gone." Orange bricking, and on the palate, tastes of oxidization. I poured about a half cup for a reduction sauce and put the remainder in the fridge til dinner. When I asked my wife to check it 5 hours later, to see if we should open something else for dinner, she said it was good.. and it was. The color was back. No orange.. and no hint of oxidization. Not sure what to think happened, but something did. Smooth tannins and good red/dark red fruit. Not particularly complex, but it was very good with the grilled NY steak and potatoes. If you got these, it's time to finish them off.

What a difference a little time can make. Our first bottle of this was pretty much over the top. Last night, with penne and sausage, it was bright, but not overpowering, with firm tannins. Not particularly complex, it was still more than a simple quaffer. That we finished the bottle over dinner says a lot. This is the bdx label for Dieberg Vineyards. Very good deal at mid-$20s, but it definitely needed time to show well.

Opened with lunch...a little one dimensional, dark fruit from start to finish...and not enough acidity to make it fun to drink.
