Grand Sichuan (St. Marks Place Grand Sich, NY): Drinking really nicely with bright, fresh fruit showing a slight sweet and sour tang and combining with herbal, smoky and other developed flavours into a seamless whole. There's excellent balance and a sense of understatement and lightness here that makes it very easy to drink; I'm always impressed by how well these older Karthäuserhofs seem to show.

An interesting wine that others preferred more than I did. Very typical riesling aromas with obvious petrol still in play. On the palate, minerals and a grassiness. Relatively dry, medium to medium light in body.

(Eitelsbacher Karthauserhof Spatlese "Sang") This showed very well on this night but did not scintillate as it has done in the past. Nice mature notes of honey, petrol and some melon fruit. The palate was concentrated and ripe but just did not excite with that diaphanous smokey quality of which I have loved in this wine. It had very nice balance but just was not there on this particular night.

herbal, almost vegetal nose. some lavender. decent wight to the middle but just a tiny bit more acidity would have been nice. a lovely wine.

Riesling revelry at Gabiela's (Gabriela's Portugese Cuisine): "Oh yeah" - initial reaction at smelling this aged riesling. Smoky, petrolly, Tart (lemon), with no noticable sweetness.
