  • Dark ruby red in color leading to a brilliant clear white. On the nose, this wine is a breath of pure deep red floral notes interlaced with rich ripe cherries, chocolate, roasted coffee and black pepper. Honestly, I'm having difficulty getting my nose to ease its way out of the glass. It's sexy and sensuous. Yet the wine speaks a completely different language on the palate. It's silky in texture but bites with its high acidity, right in corner of my mouth. Its that feeling I get when I smile for too long and that spot right where my jaw connects, aches. With a little time, the acidity relaxes and the fine tannins take charge, coating my tongue with a thin veil of bing cherries, rhubarb, black pepper and minerals. If I could choose a wine for Valentines Day, I would choose this. Paired with a grilled steak, red potatoes quartered and sauteed in rosemary butter and steamed asparagus, I would be a happy girl! 4/5

  • Deep marroonish ruby color to this wine. The nose is meaty with a dusty earthy quality that is inviting and full of fruit. Really a rich and complex nose. Black pepper, anise, mint and more. Thick. In the mouth the wine is full of super fine tannins that are balanced by a high acidity. This wine needs some air. Bright flavors that remind me of fresh cherries, rhubarb and mixed green herbs. Mint, and pepper are mingled with a minerality that makes me think of a rocky seashore. Really intriguing and I would suggest an hour or to of decanting. Food pairings, would include spring lamb, and maybe even a mussle stew. 4/5
