  • GORGEOUS aromas! High toned fruits, something leafy/floral. Minerality

Cheek coating tannins, smooth and sweet. Medium bodied. Good acid

Matched quite well with crespelle ripiene al ragu bolognese. Wine got a bit washed out by the end, but not too bad. Probably wanted something with more ooomph. Interestingly better with beef ragu

Day 3: floral notes really coming through, some of that bitter cherry stone/almond thing on the nose too. Nicely fruity palate. Tall (which is a weird description), elegant (like angular cheekbones)

  • Colour was pale ruby with some signs of age. Nose was red fruit, redcurrant, raspberry jam, pomegranate, with leather and volatile acidity.
In the mouth there was some prickle

  • Pale ruby colour. Medium (+) and developing nose with raspberry, strawberry, charred wood, mushrooms, forest floor and rose petal. Medium taste of raspberry, strawberry, charred wood, mushroom, wet leaves, forest floor and rose petal. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium tannins. Medium body. A very good Naoussa Red. Drink now or over the next five years. Goes well with duck, mushrooms, pork or veal.

  • One of the best wines I have tasted since I fairly recently started buying bulk and building up a wine cellar with a heavy emphasis on Italian wines (this being one of the first exceptions). My expectation was a nebbiolo-like experience, but although there are similarities this wine was something different and a big surprise!

Aired it in decanter for 1h. We both detected blackcurrants in addition to red fruits, contrary to most tasting notes. The wine is rich, in an almost ripassoesque way, while the flavour profile is quite different. Minerals, oak and moderate well integrated tannins combined with a delicious fruity finish. I bought eight bottles, will buy a few more and taste even mire xinamavro! 92.
