17 years old and still drinking well. Lots of fruit and acidity left, but lot of other things going on now. Some baking spices, leather, and prune flavours. Wish I had another bottle to see how it tasted in another 5 years. I am sure it has peaked, but still not far off its peak. I tasted this vintage at a 19 year vertical at Black Hills, and this vintage was the favourite back then. Maybe this is just a great year.

surprisingly vibrant and youthful. the nose, while quite savoury, still shows fruit (red berry fruit, cassis) with herbs, cedar and spice. palate is juicy, texture is soft, flavours of blackberry, cherry, bacon, and an attractive slight bitter tinge of bell pepper on the close.

Not my bottle, but all my Nota Benes (I owned and consumed three of these already in the last five years) were procured by a friend in Vancouver and showed much differently than this one brought by MK. Dark, almost infantile color with a sweet marshmallow nose, dusty-minty mid-palate and brooding tannins. Biggest surprise of all was zero secondary development--how is this even possible?

Muscular in the beginning, it opened up to red plus fruit. Lots of life left
