Hickinbotham Vertical (Oak Barrel, Elizabeth Street, Sydney): Ripe red berries, polished oak, cream, vanilla, an almost buttery note. Juicy acidity is perhaps adjusted lending a sour red berry fruit note which is, in turn, dominated by buttery and creamy notes. This is accompanied by woody drying tannins, a touch of red liquorice on the finish manages to persist past that planky grip. Slight alcohol warmth here as well. There lots to not like here.

Wow, punching above its price point. Deep dark berries and finishing long as though it has been in the bottle for years more than its age
