This bottle more tertiary now. Has it turned the corner now or just bottle storage? Inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt as have drunk quite a few bottles which have been outstanding

In a Galaxy Far, Far Away - Richebourg ! (Vancouver, BC, Canada): Anne Francois vines located in Veroilles au Richebourg, and very dark ruby colour in this fantastic vintage at 21 years of age. Substantially greater mid palatal grip than a Meo Richebourg tasted along side , but less so than the range of DRC Richebourg’s enjoyed at the same dinner. Chalky cranberry palate with no evidence of herbaceous stemminess from whole cluster fermentation as seen in the DRC’s-with a long regal finish as seen in so many of these spicy GC’s from this powerful vintage.

The 1999 Richebourg ebbed and flowed through the night, initially showing lean and dried out before gaining weight and exuding the classic darker red, pure fruit of this vineyard. Softer than expected on the palate, with small but firm tannins and an appealing acidity.

Very expressive, and solidly powerful, satisfying nose, which was a meal in itself! All you'd expect of a classy Richebourg with excellent mixed dark red fruit, florals, and spice support. The spice wasn't wimpy either, all robust and masculine. The palate kept the promise of the nose, with good freshness that lead to a medium plus finish. I believe this was popped and poured? Anyhow, built like a tank and a very nice representation of Richebourg, that wasn't all power, plenty of beauty and grace as well. I would bank on CT scores being higher if label bias were eliminated. My WOTN.

Bright red colour no deterioration. Oily fat and 4:20 on the nose. Bit of hay, dill and rosemary. Sour cherry tempered by an herbaceous crust. Still tight. Short well balanced finish. Plenty going on.
