Very northern Rhône-like. Nose of black/blue fruit, black pepper, smoke and briny undertones. Acid driven with fine tannins. Very bright and nervy on the palate. Wish I bought a few more to see where this wine goes over the next few years.

Another interesting wine from the FLX, not sure I would peg it down as Syrah at first.
Nose of boysenberry, wild blackberry, dusty cedar, and black pepper. Light bodied, and acid focused. Tart blackberries, underripe plum, oak spices, and a ton of acidity on the palate. Moderate tannins. Short plummy finish with a decent dose of unintegrated oak.
May not be a complex Syrah, but it is different. This probably needed several more years down for the oak to meld in better.
