  • Used to cook a Coq-au-vin, 2 in the stew, one for the chef. Reddish brown colour, fine, slow (syrupy) legs. Bright, dark fruits on the nose, hedgerow style - bramble and blackcurrant. In the mouth, smooth, with robust tannins, but good balance. Sampled straight from opening and the first taste was earthy, but after an hour, flavours opened nicely to reveal more of the dark black fruit. Good acidity and reasonable length.

  • Intense ruby with definite legs, give this wine time to aerate and open out. Initially, you get vanilla oak and tobacco, later sweet tobacco is still there, but also hints of flowers, piney herbs, black plums, vanilla and strawberries, balsamic and cinnamon. Mouthful is creamy, though acidity and tannins are high, with flavours of vanilla, tobacco, and spicy and slightly saline sour plums . Still youthful, you can enjoy this wine now but it will continue to develop over the next 5 years.
