This is delicious and very typical of the varietal style, although, perhaps the best expression of it I’ve ever tasted at this price point. Suggest giving it about 30 minutes of air and letting it warm up a bit first. Great by itself, but also pairs with typical foods well.

The vineyards for this maker are close to the seashore and you can smell and taste it. There is real sea spray and lemon tang on the palate and there is a pleasingly chalky aspect to the texture. At times I was thinking 'almost like Chablis', at other times 'almost like Rhein Pfalz'. Why do we do this? What it is really 'almost like' are the many genuinely excellent Portuguese and Spanish whites being made these days and that really should be enough.
This does have a little more lemon than other vintages, but not so as to put it out of balance. The length and intensity are exemplary and I think these alone would put it in the 'excellent' range, but add the texture and flavours and I think the case is very clear. PQR is very good indeed. Great stuff and it went down very well with Calamari last night.

Strong citrus, red grapefruit acidity. I don’t get any buttery notes. Nice dry white with good acidity.

Short note - typical albarinho, but with a touch sharper acidity than usual, fresh, lime, lemon, greene apples, long finish, very high quality, 87-88p
