Cathiard Malconsorts Vertical (Longo Seafood): Not especially expressive on the nose, the palate however is decisively fresh and in its prime. The antithesis of red burgundy today, it almost leads with its steely acidity and there's a slight firmness to the tannins, helping give good follow through and energy throughout. While the fruit is more restrained, there is plenty of it to balance its medium to plus bodied frame. The finish is laced with soil driven spice, which lingers gracefully without a ton of intensity but it still shows its liveliness. It's a satiny textured, old school aged burgundy, and being a premier cru, pretty much the pinnacle for its class.
In a vertical with a 2007, 2008, 2014, and 2019 this was probably showing best on the palate. No real bottle prep, enjoyed and held well over a three hour lunch. From a single cellar bought on release.

A Holiday Evening w/Friends (Jacksonville): Still for sure a nice wine but not quite my style. This one is heavier than the Charmes Chambertin that we had next to it. More full bodied. Comes across a bit more one-dimensional. It's a nice wine, but nothing specific jumped out at me. To be fair, it was preferred by many at the table. The biggest hold-up for me was just the body - a bit bigger for the pinot and perhaps a bit more earth focused.

stunning savory nose with a touch of smoke. in the mouth a delicious cornucopia of red fruit, with great sophistication and sex appeal. some maturity including a touch of orange rind. really really good.

7th of 12, decanted 45 minutes, cork quarter travelled, perfect level, little changed from last August's bottle, fruits tending to raspberry with a hint of strawberry and a touch of balsamic, youthful yet, upside still. VF (18.5).

(Sylvian Cathiard Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru "Les Malconsorts") Wow, what a monster! Outrageous stuff. Thick and dense with fruit and an incredible perfume. Great inner mouth aromatics.

Acker "Paulee" Burgundy Dinner (Capital Seafood - Beverly Hills CA): Paulée style dinner. Perfumed red fruit with plenty of earth and real sense of power (and place) on its finessed finish. Very good now.
