I was tasting with the goal of comparing to a Reynvaan Syrah. That probably set my expectations too high, but this is a good, standard Walla Walla Syrah.
Nose: kind of crazy. Definitely Rocks Syrah, but like the gnarly black sheep side of things. Diesel, asphalt, rubber, vanilla, tar, chocolate, black and blueberries. A unique smelling wine, even for the Rocks
Taste: lighter bodied than the color and nose would indicate. Still medium to medium+. Jammy black and blue fruit. Some of that malo/diacetyl flavor you get in cheaper reds. Overall pretty good for an entry level wine from this AVA.

Pretty cool wine! Really brings a lot of thunder to the glass for a super reasonable price. Black olive, roofing tar, peppercorn, and all things black right off the bat. It's slowly unfurls into purple flowers, plum, five spice powder, hoisin sauce, and even a little pine nut. It definitely smells like an ultra premium wine but the only place it shows a little crack in the armor is on the mid palate. It's a little hollow, and lacks the type of commanding flavor profile that I'm hoping for when a wine smells like this. But for the price, I'm definitely not complaining!

Red fruit vs dark fruit. Very weak on other typical Syrah notes of black pepper, chocolate, savory, etc. Very little depth.

Good Rocks notes and a bit of meat fat smoke. Nice plums bleeding into plum sauce. Good savory elements and nicely aligned structure. Dug the vibe.
