Supplied by Marky W, and after having a 67 Grange from Two Shoes ( 99pts) a few weeks earlier i was concerned this Bin 7 would not compete with its famous sibling. I have had Bin 7 several times and always blown away by its sweet earthy chocolate, blueberries, panaforte and sweet rich palate with superb but alive and balanced acidity and tannin. But its been 15 years since i had one, which was with Peter Gago interestingly. It was a cracker bottle but then we drank this one. This just hosed every previous experience of this wine I've had. despite it not being as dense or brooding or rich as the Grange, it was instead a different animal altogether. still full bodied but on the lighter side of full bodied with superb fruit and middleweight balance and extremely long finish. it drank superbly and drank way younger than it was. color was still a dark crimson red with a brown translucent edge and the superb acid and fruit structure only confirmed that anyone sitting on good condition bottles can rest assured it has decades to go. Some will disagree but i've had the privilege of drinking 1962 Bin 60A and 1967 Bin 7 together on at least two occasions in last 20 years and each time I felt the Bin 7 was the better wine, by a semantic smidgen. but nonetheless.... Just bloody unreal....

A concentrated wine with really good depth and freshness. There’s some mocha and chocolate along with intense cherry and blood plum fruits. Flavours envelop the whole mouth and it still has some tannic chew. With air blackberry fruit intensifies at its heart.

1967 Dinner with FV and Friends: Cliniced April 2004. Vanilla, blackcurrant, earth, spice and blueberry - super lift and perfume jumping out of the glass while also showing plenty of complexity. Shows very youthfully on the palate, there is excellent structure and balance to go with the deep fruit profile. A wonderful wine.

Decanted and served right away. Very deep, very dark colour. Nose full of ripe fruits with prunes as the most dominant. Taste less fruity, very good balance with tannins. Still young and extremely concentrated. In the beginning almost like a port. Opened up after 20-30 min and a great experience, but at the same time very different from anything I ever tasted before.
