  • The grapes were handpicked from 70 year old vines grown on steep slopes. After traditional fermentation, aging was done for 15 months in 70% new & 30% one year old oak barrels.
Tasted after a 90 minute decant & double aeration.
Dark ruby in colour with a distinct purple hue. Immediate classic aromas of cured meat, earth, sweet black fruit with a distinct floral note.
On the palate, full bodied tart mostly black fruit, boysenberry, sour cherry, cassis, quite floral/lavender(?), cedar, high acidity, medium slightly angular tannins with a long finish to black pepper & cassis.
This wine is young but balanced, even at 15% ABV, with good flavour & the structure to cellar successfully. At this point it has a dominant floral overprint, nicely done!
Still great flavour on day #4, dominantly floral cassis. Definitely on the repurchase list!
