This was the best wine I have ever tasted. Tasted at a Chateau Margaux Dinner where we had the chance to taste 2009/2005/2000/1996 and 89. All wines were direct from the Chateau so provenance and storage were perfect. Wine was still dark as can be, minimal signs of bricking. full bodied but velvety soft. Fruit still there with a nice mix of black/blue/red fruit. The finish was over a minute. Was able to buy a few bottles from the chateau. Wine has at least 20 years left

89 is built the vein of the 86, really opulent with all that sweet sweet red cherry fruit, fresh tobacco, cocoa and liquorice but with less bite and tannin. You can feel the alcoholic kick but this already has more resolved tannin vs the 86. This was my wotn in vertical tasting alongside 83.

Integrated and sensual with sweet dark fruit, sous bois and tobacco. Very smoothe with medium plus stuffing and complexity.
