To be honest, this was a little too oaky for me and could have used more zip and acidity. My sense is the winemaker is still trying to dial in the oak for his wines (I had this at a tasting he was hosting) and is cutting back on the new oak in future vintages (this vintage is two years in barrel and he is switching to one year in barrel, then one year in concrete).
Becomes much more aromatic on the nose with air: initially, there's a little honey and lanolin, but the air coaxes out the fruit aromas. The palate has yellow fruit, but is mineral forward. A bit of waxiness texturally, but is very delicate and polished (I would even say buttery).
