  • My 2021 barrel from the UK (not Jeff’s)

    Letter N. Dumped 1/22/2020. Barrel 534. H. Rick 20. Bottle 269

    Nose/Floral - all oak
Sweet - maple syrup central. Butterscotch and honey. Gummy bears, interesting.
    Nutty - pecan
    Spicy - black pepper
    Earthy - no
    Smoky - no
Woody - dark pine into light cedar but Not Turkey dark cedar
Fruit - cherry and orange. Classic BT
    Color - light amber
Palate - all astringent oak, then fruit, then fades back to an oak exit.
    Value - fantastic
Overall - my favorite of the Blanton’s lineup. This is the correct proof. Standard bottling is too weak. SFTB is delicious but how often can you drink gasoline. This is my favorite of the bunch.

  • Bottled 2-8-2018 / Warehouse H / Rick 19

Really liked it. Better nose than standard Blanton’s. More nutty? Less intense than SFTB obviously

  • bottled 19th Aug. 2005; Warehouse "H", Rick 34, Barrel 25, Bottle n. 85; 103 proof/51,5% Alc.

(Due to the high alcohol I drunk this diluted with a spoon of very cold water from a bottle that has been opened at least 6 months ago with two thirds left in the bottle)

The taste is now very similar to great old cognac. Not to sweet, not to much caramel or "perfume". Even diluted with a strong punch and good length. One of the best Bourbon I had incl. the premium bottlings from Wild Turkey.

  • Barrel 512, Warehouse "H", Rick 3. 103 proof.

Nose: black pepper and white pepper.

Palate: Tangerine peel, light Sumatra coffee, slightly sweet. Toast, cotton candy. Faint allspice. Faint juniper berry. Very complex. After some aeration, flavors and aromas of cinnamon assert themselves.

This is perhaps the best Bourbon I have tasted. Distinctly superior to the 15- and 20-year-old Pappies. Unfortunately, it's not sold in the U.S. (a result of a Japanese company having acquired the entire stock). Hard to find, but worth the search.
