  • TLOGAN9 didn't like this wine, suggesting it was from "bad grapes." But, the wine is from the Stags Leap district of Napa Valley. I'm not saying the grapes CAN'T be bad... but it seems unlikely to me that they are.

OTOH, the review was in Feb of 2023 (this is written Sep 2023), and even though the wine is in its official "drinking window," it needs more time. The tannins are too sharp and tangy, and mask the fruit. It gets much better after decanting for an hour or so - the tannins soften and you can taste tart cherry and chocolate.

My ratings of wine are value based. This wine was $43 (on sale, but still...) It is easy enough to pay $hundreds for a Napa Valley wine. This wine is darned good for the price - deep color, rich in texture. I bought two bottles and will get two more... and drink them in 2026, 2027, and 2028, respectively. If I'm sufficiently motivated, I'll let you know how it goes!

  • From the aroma to the finish, not a great wine. The taste was that of spoiled grapes. Would not buy it again.
