Best wine of the night. I've never tasted these grapes so the novelty was strong. Medium body, paired well with pasta and lamb ragu, layers of flavor. No notes but very enjoyable. I would definitely buy again.

bottle decant before tasting. Color: deep dark red purple. Smell: rich, intense, raisins, spicy, leather, tobacco, strawberry ice cream (yeah, really). Taste: very jammy and rich, tooth-staining chewiness, blueberry and cherry fruit, smooth tannins, modest acidity. Some anise, clove, licorice, good old-vine character. Finish is stewed fruit, spicy and lingering, some ash and smoke, good intensity.

Unique blend of Mataro, Malvoisie, Petite Sirah. It held up well against a hearty tomato dish, and also solo. Red fruit, but in no way "jammy", hint of chocolate, warm finish. A nice change of pace. Worth buying again for $20.

Very nice bottle. Our first Mataro and we liked it. For the little over $20 we paid, I thought it was well worth the money.
