Champagne In My Backyard: Serve blind. This bottle smelled stinky (and another one was opened subsequently that smelled fine). Candied pear, light to moderate acidity and not overly complex. Likely a flawed bottle?

Blind Champagne at FMIII's: Tasted blind. Nose was super skunky. Dry on the palate, with good acidity, but not much finish. Ultimately, a second bottle of this was opened, which confirmed suspicions that bottle number one was flawed somehow. Second bottle was much better, but I didn't take a note.

Light yellow gold. Lovely minerality. Hints of marscapone. Honeysuckle and pear. With brioche and orange pith on the finish.

Served blind. Reduced with sulfured wood notes. Fresh and juicy. Made me think of a Pinot Meunier.

Dinner down memory lane (Il Borro Tuscan Bistro, London): £110. Two-thirds Pinot, rest Chardonnay. Quite full without being rich or cloying. Disappeared quickly. All enjoyed.
