  • Found this on the (rather good) wine list at the Cremorne Hotel in Adelaide at an exceedingly reasonable price and remembered a favourable impression at the Coonawarra so I ordered a bottle to accompany lamb shoulder. Very Coonawarra nose with a lick of polished oak...blackcurrant, mint/eucalyptus, caramel and a little cassis, milk chocolate and an almost malty note. Juicy with fresh blackcurrant, woody notes, toouch of caramel, sweet spice. Tannins are grape and oak derived offering a little plain chocolate and the alcohol warmth helps carry the finish which also shows that malty note. Pretty good and an unexpected pleasure.

  • Coonawarra Roadshow (Masonic Hall, Goulburn street): A little crème de cassis, sweet spice, fresh blackcurrant, cedar. Medium plus intensity acidity, crunchy blackcurrant and super chewy chalky slightly drying tannins, smidge of mint. Very nice.

  • Cellar door purchase, pop n pour, drank over 3 hours. Ruby with a garnet hue, too young for bricking. Tight as expected, but feel a decent middle ground here, subtle fruits with more prominent cigar box and pencil shavings characteristics on show than anything else, no green notes which I prefer. It will be interesting to see how this develops. I’ve the young pop n pour. Hold for a couple years, try again then.
