The Portland Crew with Tooch (Kirk's Place): Dark murky purple, intriguingly strange/slightly artificial nose of liquorice, meat, blueberry bacon syrup. Doesn't resemble a pinot to me, but then I haven't had too many sonoma pinots. Med+ body, overripe and plush but with strong tart acid. 80.

Wine in Portland (Maine) (Portland, Maine): Nice red fruit on the palate. Didn't get a whole lot more than the red fruit. Palate was very smooth and long. Great cassis on the palate. Again, not really hitting my palate, but I can see this being a big winner with most CA Pinot Noir fans.

This followed an 07 Papapietro so maybe not fair to compare side by side. A bit more tannicy than what I like in a pinot. Let sit for a couple of days and it was a bit more mellow. Can't say that I would buy again.

Drinking reasonably well now, though I expect it will go a good bit longer...continued to open up over the course of a couple hours....dark, fairly high alchohol, but does not drink 'big'...but rather it is elegant and balanced

(Fort Ross Vineyard Pinot Noir Estate Fort Ross Vineyard) After an up-front essence of pine cone come epic waves of fruit: sweet red cherry, candied raspberry, and even lemonade, with a soft, moderately long finish rounding out the impressive package. Terroir: Fort Ross Vineyard

Blackberry & lavender with surprisingly angular tannins still... very delicious but not complex.
