Tasted at the “in town” tasting room in Dundee, OR which is a useful experience as this winery is rather complex to fully understand with its multiple winemakers and unique but varied “terroir” and history. I can’t do a lot of justice to that here but I would recommend it for a good understanding for what their wines are all about. This wine is made roughly from equal, nearly half, parts Pommard and Dijon 777 clones with a splash of Wädenswil. It was 15% whole cluster fermented and was aged in mostly previously used French oak barrels. 13.4% ABV. Classic medium ruby color. Nose of roses, vanilla, violets, and strawberry bramble. Palate has vibrant acidity and freshness with cherry, strawberry, wet stones and somewhat sappy extract but is a little short on the finish. Nice wine with room to improve with age.

Wines of the Week: Le Cadeau: Pale ruby color with aromatic pomegranate, blueberry, plum, floral, cola, clay, and baking spice aromas. On the palate, it's lean, with crisp acidity and well integrated fine-grained tannins. It shows pomegranate, blueberry red plum, earth, black tea and spice flavors with a long mineral tinged dafinish. 13.5% abv|SRP - $60|184 cases
Fruit for this wine is sourced from the rockiest portion of their estate vineyard planted on soils with a high content of volcanic basalt. Raised in French Oak for 12 months. Dijon 777, Pommard, Wadenswil clones
