  • Brad's Winner Winner Zuni chicken dinner night. BB,KB,ML & I. Brad's bonus btl put an explanation point on a great night! If, you're semi new to geeky, off the deep end, wine tasting or ever wondered what a "complex wine" truly smells & taste like? This is it! I might have bought 1 '03 of any wine from anywhere. I avoided '03 from any Euro region and have zero regrets except, perhaps this wine! This is mesmerizing and I really don't like most dessert wines, but this has lift best of all, not "sticky". This is sublime! My longtime wine buddies enjoy harassing me about refusing a glass of Sauternes. To which I reply, "bring a German Auslese and I'll likely enjoy it." Sadly, my buddies are like flies to a cowpie over Sauternes and rarely bring anything but... Sauternes. My WOTN! Thanks Brad for leaving the Sauternes in your cellar tonight!

  • It is hard to describe a wine that was so sublime at the moment, and I wouldn't have enjoyed it the same way if I'd been taking notes then. I brought this gem to the holiday version of my regular blind tasting group. THough we tried some other great bottles, this was the only one people kept asking more of until we finished it. You could almost not tell the age of the wine. In some way it was evident: integration, balance, and flavor from bottle maturity. But other spects like acidity, delicate floral and subtle honeyed were deceiving and pointed you towards a much younger offering. I will forever remember this wine and the person who gifted it to me and enabled me to have this experience.

  • My WOTN this seemed to be the most youthful and freshest of the offerings tonight (also came from Prum's cellars recently), fresh steely green in color and still a little gas; fresh bright slate and sweet green fruit, beautiful and complete, this had the weight but a brightness that kept this buoyant and quite drinkable, a success for the vintage but given producer...; delicious with the cumin lamb, held up to the loads of spice and lamb- a killer combo.

  • Opened this on Thanksgiving and what a beautifully rich experience it was. This was textured and unctuous but with air gained energy and dare I say lightness. An awesome example of that wonderful interplay and juxtaposition that you get with Prüm where a wine can be decadent and delicate at the same time.
Delicious notes of apricots and spiced figs evolved and began to show honeyed citrus. The amazing thing was the acidity seemed to grow in the most beautiful way. Everything started to come into focus and was enlivened with the tingle of fresh and animating acidity.
What a fantastic bottle of wine that shows yet again that great winemaking can bring out the best results, despite the conditions of the vintage.

  • This showed super rich right out of the bottle. Very ripe '03 fruit, lower acid, and a uber unctuous palate. Honeyed and textured. However, I went back to a glass 30minutes later and waves of petrol dominated the nose and the acid had really popped. Needed time to find a groove and then it was takeoff - might bode well for the future. Amazing wine. 7% alcohol.
