Pale, very pale. Electric, initially reductive nose, green fruit, hint apricots, white flowers. Lots of extract, piercing acid, drier end of Kabinett long finish.

The Schloss Johannisberg Grünlack Spätlese shimmers in charming golden hues. Swirling in the glass reveals delicate greenish highlights. The bouquet offers notes of vineyard peach, white spring blossom, and exotic lychee, along with kiwi. On the palate, the exotic nuance of the late harvest delivers its delicate character, accompanied by mineral undertones and a delightful interplay of sweet and mildly acidic hints. The finish gracefully bids farewell, showcasing fruity and mineralic elegance once again. A fantastic vintage and one of the best I can remember. Super balanced Auslese, have to rate this really really high and did buy a case of it for my daughter’s birth after tasting it.

Thin white with golden tint. Metallic white with gooseberries, unripe peach/lychee and slight smokey vanilla cask with a pinch of pink pepper. Taste gives green associatuons, a bit unsittled with overwhelming sweetness on top of acidic and underdeveloped fruit. Ok value, much better adding punch to food than being drank alone. Second level riesling for those who have mainly had the bulk stuff, unsure about the aging potential. Its drier counterparts, e.g. the Bronzelack Trocken, is better, unlikely to buy this one again. And that despite usually preferreing semi-dry over dry on any occasion.
