Floral red Burgs / '08 or older champagnes: Bore some similarities to the 2004 alongside, was more open and drinking better than its younger counterpart at first. Fresh citrus fruit with a tiny hint of oxidation, in a good spot now.

Mature but holding strong. Tangerine and hazelnut oil. Firm mousse, still fresh. Not the best vintage of this wine, a bit hollow but a very good drink now.

(Disgorged 01/2015) Aluminum and ripe fruits. Juicy pineapple as well as soap. Ripe and giving, autolytic apples, some fino-like flor notes as well as apples and cream, sweet finish. Quite mild compared to a '98 we had alongside.

This is drinking remarkably well for those of us who like a touch of resinous maturity in our champagne. Yes there are oxidative notes; yes there are lingering barrel tones; but the greatest impressions are of lemon, vanilla, chalky minerals & brioche. Superb!

(Diebolt-Vallois Champagne Grand Cru Fleur de Passion Brut) Light yellow color; tart white peach, ginger, yeasty, lemon nose; tasty tart white peach, mineral, yeast, quince palate with good acidity and cut; medium-plus finish

Champagne 2008 and older or floral reds (Imperial Grand): Blind. Oxidative with hint of white floral notes. Fresh on the palate with almond, lively acid ending with long caramel finish.
