Visits in the Wachau and Kamptal; 10/4/2023-10/5/2023 (In and around the Wachau and Kamptal, Lower Austria): This was the definition of mineral-driven tension for me and I love it! The nose has excellent balance and depth with peaches, crushed rocks, saline, lemon zest, white fruits, white flowers, and a good bit of green apples. The Medium bodied feel shows off great texture and balance with racy, high acidity that has a real lovely taught quality along with a lengthy finish. This wine was just killer! If you want it in its purest form, it is great right now. If you want more development, it can and will certainly bring that with at least another 3-5+ years of aging.

Austrian Estate Visits; 9/13/2023-9/15/2023 (In and around the Wachau valley): Light yellow. Some herbs mixed with ripe apple and pear. Fragrant. Medium to light weight, better mouth feel than the Setzberg. Discretely sweet fruit on the attack, better acidity although still on the lowish side, properly austere soil finish. A step up in intensity and richness but still well short of exciting.
