Wow, stunning meunier. My first single varietal from Brochet after having several bottles of the Le Mont Benoit cuvée. This has added freshness and depth, and a purity of fruit that I haven't found in those other bottlings. Reminiscent of Prevost, if a bit more lively. Very primary, but best on night 1 as the structure faded more than expected on night 2.
From the label: -- Vines planted in 1962, Selection Massale -- Native yeast -- Vinification & élevage 11 months in barrel -- 1509 bottles

Emmanuel Brochet New Release (Crab at Bay): Vines planted 1962, 0.4 ha, 11 months in barrel, production of 1509 bottles. Beautiful intense aroma of red apple, dense layered. Insane nose evolving throughout the night. Full body on the palate with med finish. My WOTN, unfortunately the single variety is rumoured to be discontinued favouring the LMB cuvee.

IYBroYK (Chicago, IL): Super compelling grower Champagne, especially for meunier, and for extra brut. There's this really cool spice note to the nose (almost cinnamon) as well as more typical meunier funk, all counterbalanced with some lovely yellow fruit. This is one of those wines where the nose is fully consistent with the palate; really love that. High acidity, but this doesn't feel shrill at all.

Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): No dosage. Disgorged in Jan of 2023. This is even more spicy and bright and almost a bit more intensity in just the Meunier than the blend (especially as this is the smaller part of the plot up towards the top). Again really interesting and a wine that keeps evolving in the glass which makes you want to spend more time with it. Lovely.
