  • From memory. Brownish light garnet. Decanted 7 hours. reasonably fresh at opening, this wine displayed tasty dark fruit along with excellent deep mature flavors, no VA whatsoever. Not a great Barolo, but a beautiful bottle nonetheless. Enjoyed with diane strip steaks.

  • From memory. Decanted 8 hours before dinner, best after 10. Nice color and elegant rather than powerful, fresh and recognizably nebbiolo. It may simply reflect the weak vintage, but this bottle seemed not as tasty as some other similarly old Piemonte wines that are blended, but less pedigreed.

  • Opened at lunchtime but didn't start drinking until early evening. Had a lot of VA early on which mostly blew off by the time we drank it but was a bit distracting to be honest. Pretty simple at this stage of its life, probably 5-10 years past its best. Very smooth, earthy flavours, still has a long lingering finish that kept me going back for more.

  • Superb mature nose of sweet leather, some mustiness when open initially. The wine has smooth and rounded tannins and retains some austere fruit. Good length.
