Thirteen years from its vintage date... spicy nose with a bit of anise, on the palate it’s still got some tannin, and a big mouth feel. I guess it would be subjective as to whether it’s past its prime or not. Still interesting and I’m enjoying drinking it.

I get chocolate and anise. The wife gets pepperoni and sausage. The common theme appears to be Italian spice. A complex wine that set off the sweetness of the lamb chops and mint jelly. Body to spare and sharp fruit. Alas, the last bottle.

Inky dark, light nose of blue and boysenberry, full midpalate with plenty of chocolate, tobacco and leather on the finish. A bit too dense and monolithic for thoughtful enjoyment, but plenty good for winter food.

Definitely beyond it's time, even with such a short window. No depth. Flat and void of balance. Probably should have enjoyed a couple of years ago.
