Starts with toasty, citrusy, coconut nose, a bit restrained initially and mid palate, but layers of mature buttery pear/lemon/toasty coconut on the finish. Finish lasts a full minute. Not as balanced (lacking some acidity) as the 97 Artesa Carneros chardonnay, but flavors are just as good. Much better than the regular 1996 Fogarty Santa Cruz Chardonnay tasted last month. Interestingly the Reserve was rated 90 and regular bottling was 92 by WS.
