  • Supple and elegant with lovely definition. Light bodied and beautifully dark fruited with a little spice and gentle grip. Superbly matched with a rack of Spring lamb and simple mint dressing. Drink now.

  • Muted and lacking fruit. I was hoping for some lovely floral aromatics but not there. Not sure whether it’s just a little tired or closed or what. Only okay with beef bourguignon.

  • Montille beaune
    Domaine de Montille 2006
    1er cru les sizies

Dried spice. Perhaps turmeric. Liquorice. Reddish brown.

Pretty long. Lovely balance. Good acidity. A little tannic upon opening. Rounded out with an hr in the decanter.

    92 at least.

  • Still youthful but nice, earthy Pinot sour cherry fruit. Lightish but decent perfumed fruit.

  • Diam cork. Old style, no indication of life expectancy. Soaked about one third of the way up. Otherwise perfect storage at the Wine Society.
Lovely cherry nose. Lovely with coq au vin. Quite fruity. Cherry, some cranberry, hints of oak, a little herby, some faint iron and soy. Quite youthful and fruity. A little reminiscent of cru Beaujolais actually or even a New Zealand Pinot although this is much lighter and daintier.
Without food it becomes a little more tannic, dry and sturdier, with food it’s very dainty and fruity, almost feminine, summer feel to it.
Quite a difference when with food and without.
I like this but definitely at the lower end of Burgundy 1er crus, almost village like. I think price-wise it’s also a cheaper Montille so proves the hierarchy of vineyards I think.
Youthful but I have a feeling there is only 2-3 years of life left in this at the most, due entirely to the cork, which will not outlive the wine unfortunately.
