  • Humph. This domain has a great reputation, but I don’t see it in this bottle. Strong ruby color. Black cherry fruit on the nose with a bit of raw meat. So far so good. The palate just falls short. Missing generosity. There is fruit but it’s hollow. A bit bitter. Ok but no more. (85)

  • Yikes, this was pretty bad. Austere, hot, metallic, maybe oxidized, tired. I sensed some Gevrey fruit and earth, but this was just not pleasurable. First Clavelier I've had that I didn't flat out like. Got a little more friendly on day 2, but still far from pleasant. Could have been an off bottle, but I don't think so. Should have heeded the Burghound notes on ths one. Apparently thin skinned red grapes don't like hail.
