Smelled a little reductive at first, but after a swirl or two gave way to red fruits and flowers. This is a fun one. So fresh and juicy with the grenache doing a lot of the heavy lifting. There is a savoriness that keeps it interesting on the finish. Could see this being chilled down.

Upon opening a bit light on the palate, minimal nose and grapey taste. Pumped and corked for a day and the it was smoother and fuller with more finish. Tasted to consider case sale offering at $218. Not so sure…

Stolpman's 2022 La Cuadrilla is a medium-to-deep ruby blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 5% Mourvèdre and 5% Sangiovese, fermented in concrete (70% de-stemmed, 30% whole cluster) and aged for six months in 500-liter used oak puncheons. Loaded with raspberry and pomegranate fruit, it adds notes of coriander, clove and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic (14%), softly tannic and with minimal wood, it delivers flavors in line with the aromas and stays solid on the mid-palate. Finishing with good length, this is a surprisingly enjoyable "mutt" from the Stolpman Vineyard that is well worthy of its modest sticker price. This particular bottle was decanted through a Vinturi aerator and did not require extended aeration thereafter. Drink now 2030.

A spiciness on the nose. And then some weight on the mid palate. A minty note to the nose. For some reason, and I am not sure why, I kinda just don't like it.
