MAGA theme night at Maison Dakota. Aired in bottle few hours before. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is not clear - murky, deep intensity, ruby colour with large garnet rim. Lots of sediment on side of bottle. Long legs. Nose pronounced intensity, with aromas of mushrooms, earth, black cherries, brambly blackberries, lots of meat (is this what they call bacon fat?). Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (astonishing 15.5%! but carried very well), rounded integrated high tannins, full body. Pronoucned flavour intensity, with flavours of black pepper spice, savoury mushroomy earth, meat ?bacon fat, intense black cherries and blackberries, salty olives. Very long finish. Very good quality. I'm lovin it. USA Syrah is seriously a thing. Not trying to be blasphemous, but more Sonoma producers should be making cool climate Syrah rather than mindlessly trying to grow Pinot Noir everywhere. Time to drink up and enjoy this. Las Colinas is a select barrel blend from two top organically farmed, single-vineyard sites in Sonoma Coast – Harrison Grade and Dusty Lane.

Really quite unchanged in the last two years - maybe a little more nuance but feeling young and in need of more time. A bit rich at the moment not necessarily an issue **(**)

Aromatic with impeccable balance. Leather, berries, pepper, scrub brush, earth and mint. A nose that you want to smell forever. Mature but not fading.
