Lightweight fruit and a relatively tight structure - seeming more left bank than right. Putting this and a recently drunk 98 Ch Beaumont next to each other, I'd have confidently called them the wrong way round.
Still pleasant, but nothing special.

Nice colour with a slight hint of brown on the edge. The nose was lead pencil and then some chlorine (like the lockerroom at my local swimming facility). Not a bad nose but very peculiar. The palate was typically Bordeaux - though perhaps more Cabernet than Merlot oddly enough. The aftertaste was rather long and drying almost bitter. Not much fruit but old school Bordeaux. Drink now-2009.

Funk blew off after an hour. Fine right bank. A decant would help. Fine sediment at the end. Comparable: Ben Zobrist.
